I am so excited to share some photos from our surprise trip to Boston! This trip was so special based on its spontaneity. My boyfriend, Matt, called me after work and said, “Would you be interested in going to Boston?” Of course I said yes, with him being on spring break I figured this would be the perfect time for us to take a trip like this. But then he said, “Would you be interested in leaving in a few hours?” And that’s exactly what we did! I went home, packed my bags and we were on the road by 3pm heading north to Boston, MA!

The almost four hour drive wasn’t bad. With a playlist and some iced coffee ready we had a lot of fun singing together on the ride up. Close to 7pm, we drove up to the Comfort Inn, about 5 miles outside of Boston. We were greeted by a super friendly staff and were recommended a few places within walking distance to check out for dinner. We ended up at Freeport Tavern and then walked over to Boston Bowl for some fun and friendly competition! I honestly thought I was going to win, until Matt bowled three strikes in a row, aka a turkey!! I am going to have to step my game up next time, sheesh!

The next morning we checked out and headed into Boston. Obviously coffee first, so we stopped at FlatBlack Coffee shop where I got a Raspberry Kiss coffee! So yummy! Then we headed to the New England Aquarium where we saw tons of fish, super cute seals and lots and lots of penguins! Matt and I love penguins. The aquarium was so cool and something so fun to do! We watched the penguins get fed, learned how they rescue sea turtles and pet some stingrays.

After the aquarium we walked around Boston; we had a great day of walking around 4 hours worth which worked up quiet an appetite. So we stopped at Anthem Kitchen and Bar for lunch where we shared the most delicious Korean BBQ Chicken Drummettes (highly recommended). For lunch I ordered soft shell tacos with braised beef and a side of lobster mac and cheese and Matt ordered the All American burger. So delicious, definitely a must visit on your Boston trip!

After lunch we had a few more places we wanted to hit before heading home. First was Blackbird Doughnuts. Blackbird Doughnuts is the only doughnut shop in Boston that bakes their doughnuts on site from scratch! These huge tasty doughnuts can be turned into an ice cream sandwich, and obviously, that’s what we did. It was SO huge I couldn’t finish it all, but what I could eat was amazing. Another place totally worth checking out!

After eating all of that food, we walked around Fenway Park and stumbled upon The Verb Hotel, where we definitely need to stay on our next trip back. This iconic hotel has a 70s style rock and roll feel that would be awesome to immerse yourself in. We already started planning our trip back! The restaurant Tigermama is on our list as well as the Frost Ice Loft in Faneuil Hall Marketplace near Anthem Kitchen and Bar. Also, in the spring/summer time we have to visit Beacon Hill to see its beauty in full bloom.
