A New Home for the Holidays

The holidays are my favorite time of the year and with Thanksgiving a week away; we are almost in full swing of the holiday season. There are so many special times to reflect on the things you are thankful for and spend time with your loved ones. I love how the whole community comes together with holiday cheer. Everywhere you look is decked out in holiday décor- from stores to homes and everywhere in between.

Whether you’re hosting Thanksgiving dinner or just love to decorate your space like I do, see below for some of my favorite pieces of home decor this season as well as some ways I’ve decorated!

Matt and I moved in together around 6 months ago and this is our first time celebrating the holidays in our own space! I love home decor and design, and wanted to share a few of my decorative favorites, DIY’s and show you how we decorated for the pre x-mas season.

As soon as you walk into our apartment it smells like fall. Pine is one of my favorite smells of this season; all of the pine cones featured below are less than $5! These babies scent up the whole apartment and will last for a few months. On our coffee table, I arranged the pine cones on a circular wooden serving plate, atop of a gold placemat and placed a pretty white candle in the middle. This is such a beautiful and easily achievable look that could totally be featured in Pottery Barn.

Cleaning out the garage this weekend, my mom and I found these gorgeous lanterns! I cleaned them up, placed them on the floor of our living room and filled them with things that remind me of the fall season. They really spruce up the place and tie in a small corner of the house with a festive feel. I placed a pumpkin inside each lantern, a candle in the larger one and used the left over pine cones and fall potpourri filler.

I love this fringe end blanket. It’s super cozy for the chillier weather that’s arrived! I snagged this wire basket from Target and filled it with my other cozy blankets for times when one isn’t enough.
